Timothy O'Hara currently maintains his private legal practice and commercial property brokerage in Pismo Beach, California.  He is also “of counsel” with Marvin Firestone M.D., J.D. & Associates in San Mateo. 

 

Tim has maintained a private practice for 33 years and a brokerage 23 years.  He maintained his private practice in a limited capacity while serving on the California State Board of Parole Hearings as an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ), supervisor, and appointee of the Governor for 16 of those years.

 

Timothy O’Hara specializes in shepherding clients through business sales and purchases with a focus on medical/dental practices.  He provides a full service to his clients that includes much more than representation while selling or purchasing a business and/or real estate.  He is versed in the nuances of transitioning clients into or out of their business.  He is there for all aspects of the transition, including finding, negotiating completing purchase/lease agreements for the real estate and/or business.  If the client needs a business structure such as LLC, corporation, or partnership, he can create what is needed. He provides a full-service support for business transitions - from start to finish.  While he is there from start to finish, often he is only needed for parts in the middle such as negotiating the terms and mapping the procedural requirements to buy into/out of a partnership or corporation.  He’s represented all aspects of professional career transitions and is happy to engage in whatever capacity required.

 

Tim graduated from California State University Fresno with a Masters of Arts in Biology in 1989. He then went on to obtain a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego in 1992 and a Masters in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School in 1994. Mr. O’Hara is also a Licensed California Real Estate Broker and is well-versed in California Real Estate Law.  He has functioned as an expert witness.  He has presented on medical contract law for the American Society of Anesthesiologists 2025 annual meeting.  He is known for his thorough approach to transactional work and aggressive trial work.
